Hull || About Us || Diversity Program
Hull is committed to increasing the diversity of its workforce to reflect the ever-changing make up of today's marketplace. We define diversity as an opportunity to go beyond ethnicity, gender, age, religion, disability and national origin to build a workforce that reflects the diversity of values and characteristics in the communities that surround our organization. It is our goal to continue developing an environment that is inclusive and tolerant of all differences and to draw upon the strength of diversity in our workforce to exceed the expectations of our customers.
Hull takes the following actions to promote diversity in the workplace:
- Active selection and recruitment of disadvantaged, minority and female owned businesses (DBE's, MBE's and FBE's) to participate and prosper in numerous projects.
- Training and awareness meetings with shareholders, managers, group leaders and staff emphasizing top management commitment to diversity in the workplace.
- Establishment of a mentoring program designed to encourage learning and growth for key individuals.
- Participation in the Brownsfields Jobs Training and Development program where students are recruited and hired from unemployed and underemployed residents in areas affected by brownfields, which plague the low-income, ethnic minority, and dis-advantaged communities.
- Involvement in community school programs including tutoring in the Ohio Reads program, guest lecturing and participation in career days, judging science fairs and leading field trips.
- Seek to fill open positions by placing recruitment advertising in minority oriented media in an effort to reach qualified candidates that will assist in meeting our goals and objectives of a diverse workplace. All ads include the tagline "We are an equal opportunity employer and encourage minorities and females to apply".
- Reach out to municipal and state leaders with Affirmative Action responsibilities to solidify our commitment to meeting diversity goals and objectives.
