Underground Storage Tank Investigations
and Remediation
Client: BP |
Hull partnered with BP to provide portfolio
strategy and budget management, corrective actions management
such as Underground Storage Tank (UST) closures acquisition
and divestiture assessment support services, soil and ground-water
investigations, remedial system design and operation, and
conducting risk-based corrective actions.
Project tasks vary by site but generally included:
- Subsurface investigations;
- logging soil borings;
- installing monitoring wells;
- extraction wells/soil vapor and ground
water sparge wells;
- groundwater sampling;
- geophysical logging (gamma ray);
- magnetometer surveys;
- ground penetrating radar surveys;
- slug testing;
- pumping tests;
- soil gas surveys;
- installed free product recovery systems;
- remedial system pilot tests;
- preparing reports;
- Technical report preparation;
- Waste management; and
- Regulatory interfacing and reporting.
With challenging subsurface conditions
and varying regulatory requirements in several states, Hull
applied risk based corrective actions where applicable to
develop cost effective remedial solutions.
Hull has partnered with the client for more than 15 years,
and as a result, has conducted more than 1,000 UST investigations.
Projects have involved completion of assessment and remediation
activities at hundreds of sites in several states, leading
to regulatory closure. Hull was evaluated annually on overall
cost savings and management, health and safety, and site closures
(NFAs). The client utilized Hull to participate on regulatory
rule review boards and state petroleum underground storage
tank release compensation boards.
