Hull prepared the design for the replacement of an existing precast concrete box beam bridge on East South Street over an abandoned railroad in the Village of Barnesville, Ohio.
This project was a locally funded project. Hull services included field survey and mapping, bridge design, construction plan preparation, and bidding services. Hull used a creative layout to install a precast box culvert structure within the confines of the existing stone abutments to allow a multi-purpose trail to cross under the road.
By leaving the existing stone abutments in place, disruption to village traffic and adjacent properties was kept to a minimum. The new structure utilizes a precast concrete box culvert with precast concrete head-walls and wing-walls. A detour was implemented for local traffic during construction, so little maintenance of traffic coordination was necessary.
