The existing wastewater treatment and disposal system at this food processing facility near Urbana, Ohio no longer met the needs of the company and was in violation of some Ohio EPA effluent limits.
Hull was retained to develop and execute a strategy for the facility to come into Ohio EPA compliance by planning, designing and permitting a pretreatment system with ultimate disposal to the City of Urbana sewer system.
The project consists of modifying the existing treatment plant to incorporate a Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) process, and includes a new vertical screen and lift station to transfer the process wastewater from the plant to the equalization tanks upstream of this new DAF process.
The DAF system will be housed within the existing wastewater treatment building and the equalization phase of the process will occur within the existing wastewater collection tanks near this building. Screenings and sludges from the wastewater pretreatment system will be disposed at an appropriately licensed facility.
Hull was instrumental in coordinating the public-private partnership approach to this project, by bringing the City of Urbana and the Champaign County Commissioners together with this important local industry to secure funding assistance from the Ohio CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) Program and the Jobs Ohio Program.
